On Android, if you have sound/vibration disabled, you may see a modal/blocking alert while scanning, if an error occurs, telling you your sound is disabled.
It's really not clear to users why this alert appears, it's a jarring / unpleasant user experiences
If you dismiss the warning, it doesn't appear again. This means we lose the benefit of warning users around the sound availability. If the sound is subsequently disabled, we don't ever ask users to turn it back on again.
Where devices are shared between workers, it's possible people won't realise sound should be turned on.
Solution:
Instead of modal dialog, just show a warning along with the swappable toast whenever sound is off (see attached). Fixes both problems.
