I’m reaching out to request a feature (or API-supported workflow) that enables weight-based pallet allocation and racking overload prevention within CartonCloud.
Current Challenge:
We’re using CartonCloud to manage pallet storage and allocations, but at present the system doesn’t appear to automatically consider rack weight limits when determining where pallets can be stored. Each pallet has a recorded weight, but location/rack assignments don’t enforce cumulative weight limits or provide alerts when a rack is overloaded.
What We’re Trying to Achieve:
Define a maximum load capacity (kg) for each warehouse location or racking bay.
Automatically calculate the current cumulative weight of all pallets stored in that location.
When allocating or moving pallets, CartonCloud should:
Prevent allocation to any location that would exceed its maximum capacity, or
Warn/flag the operator that the location is approaching or exceeding its limit.
This functionality would significantly improve warehouse safety, compliance, and operational efficiency by ensuring no racking is overloaded and that heavier pallets are intelligently distributed. It would also reduce manual checking, increase confidence in system-directed putaway, and support future automation.
Please let me know if this capability already exists in some form, or if we can work with your technical team or professional services group to prototype or develop it.
Thanks in advance — this enhancement would be a major win for operational control and warehouse safety.
