We’ve identified a scenario where orders are not always picked in full (e.g., due to stock discrepancies). At the moment, when a picker completes a pick in the mobile app, CartonCloud sets the unit_qty as if the full quantity was picked, rather than reflecting the actual picked_qty.
Operationally, the order should still progress to a Picked status because the activity has occurred. Still, it should carry an additional state flag, such as “exception,” to indicate it was not picked in full.
Without this distinction, the packing team interprets the short-pick as a miss-pick and attempts to locate stock that isn’t there. This creates unnecessary rework and delays. With state, it would be possible to allow the order to flow through normally; however, administratively, we could trace and communicate internally and externally without much effort.
