Automatic Hold and Timed Release for Future-Dated Auckland DC Orders

Currently, sales orders for Auckland distribution centers are released into the Pick & Pack system immediately after being loaded, even when the required delivery date is 5–8 days in the future. This can result in unnecessary workload visibility, potential premature picking, and reduced operational efficiency.

Suggested Enhancement:
Introduce a configurable rule that automatically places Auckland DC sales orders on hold when they are imported and the required delivery date is more than two days away. The system would then automatically release these orders for picking exactly two days before the required delivery date.

Benefits:

  • Reduces clutter in the Pick & Pack queue by showing only actionable orders.

  • Prevents orders from being picked too early.

  • Improves warehouse planning and prioritization.

  • Ensures orders are released at the appropriate time to meet delivery requirements.

  • Reduces manual intervention currently required to manage future-dated orders.

Example:
If an Auckland DC order has a required delivery date of 10 June, the system would keep the order on hold until 8 June, at which point it would automatically be released to the Pick & Pack system.

This enhancement would help align order visibility with operational timelines and improve overall warehouse efficiency.
