Mobile app - Stay open longer in background
This might be an OS issue but is there a way to allow the app to stay in the device’s RAM for longer than a couple of minutes?
There are many cases where a driver needs to start recording POD information, such as taking a photo, a few minutes before they can get signature.
Eg: There are several cartons, the driver knows the receiver will put the cartons straight into their coolroom, so the driver takes a temperature and a photo while in the van. He/she then has to put their device away to handle the goods. By the time the driver is ready to get a signature the app has refreshed and the photos and temperature information is gone.
Eg 2: The driver has 8 pallets to unload and needs to capture a photo of each in between moving the pallets with a pallet jack. The receiver won’t sign for the delivery until all pallets are unloaded and inspected.
We’ve been using the work-around of taking photos on device and using the "choose from library” option, but it’s not ideal.
